Google Chrome 135.0.7049.85 Features
Google Chrome version 135 brings a variety of new features, security enhancements, and developer-focused improvements. It also addresses 14 security vulnerabilities across desktop and Android versions, with nine reported by external researchers.
Smarter Scam Protection: For those using Enhanced Protection, it now uses on-device AI (fancy Large Language Models, to be exact) to spot scam sites. Warnings pop up based on Google’s Safe Browsing tech, making the web a little less wild.
Passwords Just Got Easier: Chrome 135 uses a new machine learning model to better understand and autofill password fields. No more fumbling with tricky website layouts—Chrome’s got it figured out.
Incognito Goes Extra Private: Third-party cookies are now blocked by default, with no way to turn that off globally. It’s a solid step toward keeping your private browsing, well, private.
Sync Your Extensions: Signed-in users can now save newly installed extensions to their Google Account. This feature, rolling out to some users, allows extensions to sync across devices when signed in, enhancing convenience for those who switch between machines.
Sync Gets Smarter: Signed-in users with Sync enabled will love this: your settings, shortcuts, and themes are now kept separate from local data. That means less clutter and no accidental uploads when you toggle Sync on or off.
New Features for Developers:
- CSS Carousels: Chrome 135 introduces native CSS carousel support with new pseudo-elements like ::scroll-button() and ::scroll-marker(). These allow developers to style scrollable areas into carousels without heavy JavaScript, using properties like overflow: auto and custom content (e.g., arrows).
- Command Attributes: New command and commandfor attributes for <button> elements improve accessibility and declarative coding.
- Customizable <select> Elements: Developers can now style <select> dropdowns with CSS using appearance: base-select, opening up richer design options.
- Accessibility Tree in DevTools: A new view in Chrome DevTools helps developers inspect how assistive technologies interpret page content.
